When we talk about the value of arts and culture to society, we always start with its intrinsic value: how arts and culture can illuminate our inner lives and enrich our emotional world. This is what we cherish. However, we also understand that arts and culture has a wider, more measurable impact on our economy, health and wellbeing, society and education. It’s important we also recognise this impact to help people think of our arts and culture for what they are: a strategic national resource. The value of arts and culture to people and society outlines the existing evidence on the impact of arts and culture on our economy, health and wellbeing, society and education. Hunar House was started by Abhinay Bharadwaj. A passionate writer himself, the idea struck him two years ago to build a community where people can express their feelings through their talent and that’s how it was started on October 15th, 2017. The motto of Hunar House goes as such “Talent yours, House ours”, working towards spreading awareness of the creative arts. Thegirlimprints is a group from Delhi that has always served the society with their efforts. One of their fests called ‘Safar’ is an initiative from their side as a hope of humanity which aims to collectively reach 25 cities by this December.
An open mic session was held on 22nd December in Phoenix Arena, Hyderabad for all kinds of artists irrespective of their talent, type, theme and genre. The show was hosted by Shreeya Dhapola and Ritika Roy. Their list of events included workshops, mentorships, open mic nights and many more. There were more than 25 performers from the city who took part for a noble cause. The audience was also left spellbound.
There were great conversations during the lunch, which followed the farewell to the audience. Most of them learned to ask themselves ‘WHY’ and rethink over the existential inequality with a growth mindset for the welfare of arts and culture around them regardless of their age, respecting their work and passion. Every revolutionary idea which starts with an individual has to be heard right away to take it forward. This is the first empathetic objective for showing up with an honest motive at heart.
The core team of Hunar House includes Shreeya Dhapola, Ritika Roy, Harsh Vardhan Golia, Abhinay Bharadwaj and Himanish. They have previously organised events in Hyderabad and Ranchi.
