Immersive Experience is one of the emerging Digital Trend powered by Augmented Reality (AR), Virtual Reality (VR) and Mixed Reality (MR) is making a big transformation wave in every industry. IEEE Computer Society chapter under IEEE Hyderabad Section organized a half-day Workshop on Digital Reality on May 11, 2019 at Plaza Hotel, Begumpet on the eve of National Technology Day.
Digital reality is generally defined as the wide spectrum of technologies and capabilities that digitally simulate the reality in one way or the other across most of the senses, inhere in AR, VR, MR, 360° video, and the immersive experience, enabling simulation of reality in various ways. It has all sorts of implications that are widely covered almost exactly backwards. Playing it out, what we thought was hard technically is proving to be pretty easy. Digital is everywhere; digital is everything and its impact is enormous.
To comprehend digital reality, we need to understand the concepts that it encompasses. While VR enables users to immerse themselves in artificial surroundings that portray actual places or imaginary worlds, AR overlays contextual information on the actual physical environments users see, thus combining digital components and experiences with real life. Digital Reality actually has ocean of terms. Certain companies and people like to use some terms and others might prefer the alternatives. New ones appear each week and old ones fall out. Many overlap and no agreed definitions for any of these terms.
Vidyasagar, Chairman, IEEE Computer Society Hyderabad Section explained the growing importance of AR and VR and Jabbar, Vice-Chair, IEEE Computer Society Hyderabad Section described the significance of IEEE driving the efforts to educate on emerging trends. Bala Peddigari, Secretary, IEEE Hyderabad Section, Rajanikanth, Secreatry, IEEE Computer Society Chapter and Ramesh Chandra Gollapudi, Treasurer, IEEE Computer Society from IEEE Hyderabad Section Execom graced the occasion and engaged with participants.
At the end of the event, couple of faculty members from VNR Vignan Jyoti demonstrated the Virtual Tour they are conceptualizing for Warnagal, they demonstrated the 3600 view of Ramappa and Bhadrakali Temples, which created immersive experience during the virtual tour for participants.
There were three invited speakers for the workshop – Nikeelu Gunda, Founder, Digital Connect immersed participants on how Augmented Reality shaping different industry segments and show how it is influencing the new age interactive marketing. Mr. Ikram Ali Shaik, Technical Architect Producer and for AR/VR/MR explained the key ingredients to Developing Apps for Retail Industry. He also shared few industry game changers in AR. Further, an entertaining and influencing session from Sai Satish, CEO, India servers immersed participants to join with avengers characters. Satish has shown on how quickly transforming AR skills can be learnt using right set of tools in place.
The main objective of this workshop is to inculcate awareness among professionals towards the exciting world of Digital Reality powered by Augmented Reality and Mixed Reality. AR and VR are key Technology Developments that promise to transform many industries and are likely to have a profoundly transformative effect on the way we live and work.
